Leader's Party
First up was the Watermark Student Ministries (WSM) Leader's party. The WSM staff and some student parents hosted a fabulous dinner party for well over one hundred volunteers. It was fun to dress up a bit, get a baby sitter (thanks, Uncle Phil!) and hang out with some of our favorite grown-ups.
Everyone in our community group volunteers with WSM so we managed a group picture. This is the last year we'll all be small group leaders as Jeff, David, Alli and Katie's kids are all graduating in May.
Small Group Party
Next, Jenny and I hosted a Christmas party for our 10th grade small group at my house. We decorated cupcakes, ate pizza and had a white elephant gift exchange. Good times with my favorite high school girls!
These were the only cupcakes that survived for a picture...the others were consumed immediately upon completion.
Work Party
Monday was the RT Christmas party. In years past we've celebrated at a restaurant. But this year Jeff and Rob wanted to have a more personal affair so the party took place at the Thomas' house. Haley and I prepared dinner for the company (17 employees, girlfriends and spouses) and it was a lot of fun!
With the help of Martha, Rob's mom, we fancied the place up a bit:
It really was great to have everyone together in a home. I feel like we all got to visit with one another more in a relaxed atmosphere.
Following is the best picture I could get of almost all the team. If you see some strained looks, a few people were freaking out about me standing on the counter to attempt a picture of everyone. They could have made it easy on the girl one week from her due date and all gathered together for a nice group shot...but nooooo.
Each year Rob gives his employees a list of gifts to choose from. "Santa's Favorite Things" is always a hit and inspires much contemplation and discussion of what choice to make.
We finished the evening by praying for Scott and Annie. They were unable to attend this year's party as they were on their way to Vietnam to pick up their precious little girl! We couldn't be more excited for them.
Community Group Party
Later in the week Jeff and I had our community group over for a Christmas-y dinner and games. I somehow didn't take any pictures...oops! We had fun visiting and enjoyed yummy chips, queso, guac, taco soup and cookies.
There was also a rousing Cranium game, narrowly won by the STAR TEAM which consisted of the Millers, David, Jeff and myself. There was some dispute over David's humming technique but in the end the Star Team was declared victorious.
Last, but certainly not least, was Ridge's second birthday party! But Mr. Ridge, being Bennett's best buddy and all probably deserves a post all his own.
More to come!
